TOMS shoe founder Blake Mycoskie to set sail on the plastiki

Have you ever heard of a boat fully made out of plastic? Well it exists! David De Rothschild, an environmental activist and ecologist is setting out for the Pacific Ocean on a boat completely made out of plastic in order to create awareness of the plastic crisis that we have going on in the world. Rothschild has invited scientists, artists, and friends to join him on the expedition that should arrive in Sydney early 2010. Blake Mycoskie is one of the guests invited to come on the expedition. I think this is a sweet idea and I hope that it will create enough awareness of the plastic crisis. The expedition will sail through the Pacific Gyre and the Eastern Pacific garbage patch, two areas of the pacific where ecosystems are diminishing because of our plastic consumption.
